Introduction

Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), founded in 1940, is one of the national key universities in China, a research-oriented institution of science, engineering and liberal arts with science and engineering as the focus. BIT has been always attached great importance and receiving preferential support from the central government. It is one of the first Chinese universities to run a graduate school, one of the first 15 universities to enter project 211� and the 10th university to be approved into project 985�.

Operating across two main campuses (Zhongguancun and Liangxiang) in urban and suburban Beijing, the university has over 26,000 full time students as of the year 2011, including 14,800 undergraduate students, over 7,700 Master degree candidates, more than 2,800 PhD candidates, and over 600 pre-degree students.

BIT consists of 19 academic schools, offering 64 undergraduate programs, 49 graduate programs, 23 doctoral programs. There are 3492 faculty and staff members, including 1218 professors and associate professors, among whom there are 9 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 17 National Experts with Outstanding Contributions, and 22 Cheung-Kong Scholars.

With a solid foundation in scientific research, BIT has always played a leading role in the scientific research in China. It launched the first high altitude sounding rocket of the P. R. China, set up the first TV broadcasting and receiving system and opened the first TV channel in China. It also developed the first large-scale planetarium and the first low altitude detection radar in China. The Humanoid Intelligent Robot HuiTong developed by BIT is the first intelligent robot in the world to imitate playing Tai-Ji and the Knife skills of Chinese martial arts.

Traditionally, BIT is characterized by its excellence in the fields of mechanical engineering, optical engineering, information and communication engineering, engineering mechanics, power machinery, physical electronics, control engineering, and applied chemistry. BIT also pays great attention to the development of other disciplines, such as science, management, life science, humanities, and art design.

Note:BIT requires all foreign students to be covered by the Comprehensive Insurance Plan of Foreign Students sponsored by Ping-An of China, which includes Accidental Injury Medical Treatment Insurance and Hospitalization Medical Insurance, not covering out-patient treatment expenses of common disease.

For self-financing students who pay the tuition fees by themselves, the insurance fee will be paid by the university. Other foreign students are required to buy this Insurance via BIT by themselves or by other supporting agencies.
Health Examination Record Confirmation Fee are billed by Beijing Sanitation and Quarantine Bureau.
Residence Permit Fee is billed by the Department of Entry and Exit of Aliens, Beijing Public Security Bureau.
 
 
Admission Requirements

Application Qualifications
 
Chinese Language program
Individuals who are above 18 and have completed high school education or have got academic records equivalent to a Chinese high school graduate.
 
Undergraduate Program
1. High school graduation or equivalent to a Chinese high school graduate;
2. Efficient Chinese language skills (5 grade of HSK or above);
3. With age 18 through 35.
 
Graduate Program
1. Master's program applicants should be university graduates or will graduate by July 31. A doctoral program applicant should have a master's Dgree in the same major or in the relative field of interest;
2. Efficient Chinese language skills(6 grade of HSK);
3. Recommending by two professors.

2. Official copy of Secondary/High School Transcript, HSK transcripts
3. two recent photos (1 inch or 2 inch, light blue background)
4. Photocopy of Passport (including the valid visa page if you are already in China);.
5. If you are a student in one of China's universities now please present a certificate agree your transfer from its office of international students.
6. The transfer students should submit the transcript from the former university.
7. Guardian's Guarantee(For applicant undaer 18 years old)
