Introduction

Jiangsu University was founded by combining the former Jiangsu University of Science and Technology (a key university), Zhenjiang Medical College and Zhenjiang Teachers’ College with the approval of the Ministry of Education of China in August, 2001. It is a teaching-and-research-oriented comprehensive university, strong in engineering disciplines. It is one of the first group of universities that offer doctoral programs and one of the Top 100 Universities in China.

Currently, Jiangsu University has 26 schools offering 83 undergraduate degree programs in 9 academic fields: Engineering, Science, Medicine, Literature, Economics, Law, Management, Education and History. The university has 8 post-doctoral research stations, 9 primary (or first-level) disciplines for doctoral degrees, 42 Ph.D. programs, 167 master’s programs, 3 national key academic disciplines, 1 of which is under cultivation, 2 disciplines with special advantages in Jiangsu Province, 4 Jiangsu provincial key primary disciplines, 13 Jiangsu provincial key disciplines, 7 categories of professional master degrees, and 26 fields for ME.

The university covers an area of 3,000 mu, and all of the buildings on campus have a floor area of 1.4 million m2. It has teaching and experimental equipment worth 500 million Yuan, 4 national top-quality courses, 2 national excellent teaching groups, 1 national engineering technology research center, 1 national experiment teaching demonstration center, 2 national pilot zones for talent cultivation innovation, 1 key lab of Ministry of Education, 10 provincial experiment teaching demonstration centers, and 20 ministry-level key labs and engineering technology research centers. The university library has a floor area of 53,000m2, a collection of 2.6 million books and 1 Sci-tech Novelty Search Station sponsored by Ministry of Education of China. Jiangsu University Publishing House and the A-level hospital, Jiangsu University Hospital are two major affiliations to the University.

It has a faculty of 4,700 members, of whom 2,000 are fulltime teachers, 330 professors, 190 Ph.D supervisors, 8 specially-employed academicians, 1 specially-employed professor of Cheung Kong Scholars Program, two winners of National Fund for Outstanding Youth, 7 professors enlisted in the New Century Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talents Project of China, 1 leading scientist of Jiangsu Provincial 333 High-level Talents Cultivation Project. The current total enrollment of full-time students amounts to over 42,000, including7,200 postgraduates, 32,000 undergraduates, 200 international students and 2,600 students for further education.

The university has established long-term cooperative relationship with 44 universities and educational or research institutions in America, England, Germany, Australia, Thailand, Japan, Russia, France, Italy, Korea, India, Singapore, Sweden, Austria, Ghana and Denmark. It has jointly founded Confucian Institute with Karl Franzens University Graz (Austria), jointly offers master programs with Magdeburg University (Germany), and jointly runs pilot international courses class with Leeds University (England).

At present, seizing the strategic opportunity for higher education reform and development,with the strategic foresight of “Be oriented toward the modernization, the world and the future”, Jiangsu University is implementing Four Strategies: strengthening the university by talents, characteristic development, international cooperation and uniting concerted efforts to enhance its educational qualities and promote its distinctive academic features. Medical insurance

As per governmental stipulations, international students should buy the Integrated Insurance Policy for International Students. The rate is 600 CNY/year for one person.

Application Requirement

Undergraduate Programs
1) Be in good health condition, which accords with the Health Standard for International Students stipulated by the China Education Department.
2) Have senior high school diploma and good academic record.
3) Have basic Chinese language ability for non-English courses.
4) Have good moral character and obey the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and regulations of the university. Respect Chinese social customs and habits.
5) Applicants who apply for bachelor programs conducted in English should have certain English proficiency.   

MBBS Programs
1) Abide by the relevant policies and decrees formulated by the Chinese government, and the rules and regulations of Jiangsu University (JU).
2) Study hard and have good moral character. Respect the teaching staff and Chinese traditions and customs.
3) Develop scientific attitude in research and study and stress the combination of theory and practice. Have a good command of basic theories and systematic knowledge in the field of medicine science.
4) Have a deep love for medicine, have the spirit to devote themselves to medical care and the service of mankind and have good occupational morality.
5) Have a good command of Chinese language and get HSK certificate required.
6) Be in good health condition.

Bachelor of Business Administration(BBA) Programs
1) Abide by the relevant policies and decrees formulated by the Chinese government, and the rules and regulations of Jiangsu University (JU).
2) Study hard and have good moral character. Respect the teaching staff and Chinese traditions and customs.
3) Develop scientific attitude in research and study and stress the combination of theory and practice. Have a good command of basic theories and systematic knowledge in the field of Business Administration.
4) Be in good health condition.

Bachelor of International Economics and Trade(IET) Programs
1) Abide by the relevant policies and decrees formulated by the Chinese government, and the rules and regulations of Jiangsu University (JU).
2) Study hard and have good moral character. Respect the teaching staff and Chinese traditions and customs.
3) Develop scientific attitude in research and study and stress the combination of theory and practice. Have a good command of basic theories and systematic knowledge in the field of International Economics & Trade.
4) Be in good health condition.

Master’s Degree Program
1) Be in good health condition, which accords with the Health Standard for International Students stipulated by the China Education Department.
2) Have college graduation diploma and good academic record.
3) Have basic Chinese language ability for non-English courses
4) Have good moral character and obey the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and regulations of the university. Respect Chinese social customs and habits.
5) Applicants who apply for master programs conducted in English should have certain English proficiency.
6) Permission from future possible supervisor.
